  • Visit Newseum and view the Papers from TODAY
  • Check out the Front Pages from around the country
  • Pick 5 news papers from DIFFERENT States
  • Copy the pages into a Word or PowerPoint
  • Answer the following questions
    1. What headlines were used?
    2. How were they different from the different states?
    3. What story stood out the most to you? Why?
    4. What pictures were used? Did they use Close Ups?
    5. What emotions were shown?
    6. Do you think any of this stories will be remembered in 10 years? Which ones? Why?
  • Save and work on something quietly when done

Osama Bin Laden Headline Comparison
    • View Newseum Today's Front Pages May 2nd
      • Click on Archived Pages
      • Click on May 2 entry on Osama Bin Laden
      • Analyze the different pages. You will be creating an MS Word Document or a Power Point slide(s) to answer the following questions so you should practice answering these questions now.
        1. What are some of the words/phrases used in the headlines?
        2. How do headlines from different regions in the United States differ?
        3. What images were used (if any) to help enhance the headline?
        4. Were there close-ups? Of what? Why were there close-ups?
        5. Make a list of the words that "feel" emotional to you.
        6. From whose point of view are the headlines and images presented.

    • Pick five newspapers from different areas of the the world or regions in the U.S.
      • Make sure the paper has coverage about Osama Bin Laden. Not all do.

    • Copy the images from each of the papers and paste them into a MS Word Document or a Power Point Slide.
    • Answer the SIX questions above
